History of the Artist thru Photos
An outline of the artist's early career
1993

Satellite Babies
The Satellite Babies exhibit became Rosemary's first art show ever. She was nineteen then. From her love for working with mannequins and dolls she eventually began working with costume art. Also demonstrated in her work here was a love for working with found objects and collecting reusable items which later led to her founding the New Orleans Recycle for the Arts. Below is a bio about her work at that time.

With the Satellite Babies came adoption papers proclaiming them " Satellites of Love". After their inception Polestars became another form of Rosemary's favorite art.

While living in Arizona, Rosemary participated in her second two person art show, featuring more Satellite Babies and found object art with broken toasters and T.V. sets.

Later, Rosemary became interested in the healing properties of gemstones. For a time she traveled selling quartz crystals to Psychics and Palmreaders across the country. From this experience she learned the art of wire maniputlation in jewelry making, the skills from which eventually became a large part of creating the structures for her costume art. The name EnRapturing ReVisions came to her during her time living in the desert. The artist reserved that name, the label for which she is now known, for her found object and costume art and used Enchanted Earth Designs for her jewelry line.

During her travels selling crystals and jewelry she visited New Orleans again. It was then that the seed for her future of working in Jackson Square was planted. In this photo she is selling her wares across the street from Jackson Square and the Pontalba Apartments, an area that has been off limits to artists for many years now. Rosemary posed for several Living Still photos with famed Atlanta artist Panorama Ray, in some of her earliest costumes. Ray was a dear friend to her and in fact it was he who encouraged her to begin performing again. As a teenager she had been very involved in theatre but set it aside for nearly eight years before meeting Ray. Ray took his last panoramic of Rosemary's Snow Queen.

In the late '90s Rosemary began producing and performing in a series of performance art shows. Backdrop Uncovered became a weekly show at Backdrop Gallery on Peachtree Street in Atlanta for about eight months. The shows included live music, performances and weird comedy and improv by the artist with her friend Lake Sirmon, seen together here in their mighty Spaceship!

Rosemary curated her first show, Glitter and Gore, for Halloween at Backdrop Gallery as her last event there. She gained excellent press for this when her own art was featured on two full pages in Poets, Artists and Madmen magazine. A photo of one of her Polestars, captured with light color photography and photographed by Lake Sirmon, is pictured below.

Soon after stepping into the performance art world, Rosemary began working for an innovative new company, Jigs N' Juleps, playing different childhood fantasy characters at birthday parties for kids. Activities included Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Sing-A-Longs and Crafts among others. Since her recent relocation to Atlanta she is again working as a children's entertainer for several Atlanta agents (see Entertainment link of this website for more info).

In the late summer of 1998 Rosemary moved to New Orleans. She made her living through the satellite office to Jigs and Juleps Childrens Entertainment and worked as Jackson Square's first licensed Henna Tattoo Artist in the French Quarter.

Soon she was doing more costume art for small theater groups and on consignment with boutiques. She began to focus most of her time on the costumes and on shows to feature them in. Her yearly solo fashion art show, 12th Night, came along soon after (see 12th Night link on Events page for more info.)

Through her work on several events with New Orleans House of Lounge, Rosemary became more involved with the fashion realm. Below are images from one of Rosemary's first shows with The House of Lounge.

Rosemary was fascinated with art from found objects from the beginning of her career and had always been concerned with the pollution of the environment. In Atlanta she concieved the idea of a reuse center for artists and teachers to pick up materials and supplies that would otherwise become garbage. After placing a flyer on a bulletin board for starting such a project, she discovered Atlanta already had one called Materials for the Arts. The program was a project formed out of NYC's citywide program which provided materials to their entire school system. Once she arrived in New Orleans she realized the need for such an organization there and so began Recycle For the Arts. Recycle for the Arts
One of R4A's first programs, outside of the warehouse reuse center, was to create art projects from reusable materials with students from New Orleans inner city schools.

While in New Orleans, Rosemary founded the Krewe Du Faye Fairy Parade, which continues to march at Mardi Gras on the Friday before Fat Tuesday.

Seven wonderful years were spent in New Orleans until in August 2006, Hurricane Katrina flooded the historic city. Rosemary's costume art studio received a foot of water and her career in Jackson Square came to an end. She has lived in native, Atlanta, since she evacuated the storm but continues to stay involved as best she can with the New Orleans community.

Over the years Rosemary was involved in so many events that it is impossible to list them all here. More press from this time period can be found on the press link. You can learn more about her current work and her recent artistic accomplishments by visiting the Events and Bio pages of this website.
